The Master’s degree of reference in banking and finance since 1996.

Activity in finance today is complex and dynamic. In recent years it has been transformed within a sophisticated and international context of innovation, leading to a demand for ever more qualified professionals able to perform in the field of banking and finance.

The University of Cantabria, through the Santander Financial Institute (SANFI), meets these demands with the Master in Banking and Financial Markets, a qualification founded in in Santander in 1996 which has become a model of international success with courses in Mexico (1999), Morocco (2007), Brazil (2014) and Chile (2017). To achieve this degree od success, it is privileged to count on the Santander Bank as a partner, benefitting from its support and professional experience in the sector.

The program includes residential courses in Madrid and United Kingdom.

This Master trains participants as banking and financial markets specialists, joining the select group of managers who, with talent and social responsibility, will lead banking and finance of the future. This learning experience has been designed to adapt to the needs of financial sector companies performing in the global market, bringing university education closer to the needs of business.


The general objective of the study program is to train students in the field of banking and financial markets, making them specialists in banking sector knowledge, and in how financial entities and markets operate.

In particular, the master aims to:

  • Provide a global vision of the areas of banking operations, deepening in the study of their operations and in the planning of their business strategies.
  • Train the participant in the use of financial institution management techniques.
  • Practical knowledge of the operation of financial markets and products in the international arena.
  • Accredit successful graduates with an internationally recognized qualification for professionals working in the financial world and in the field of investment.

We offer a methodology that combines theory and practice for a complete learning experience, led by an excellent teaching staff comprised of executives and professional from the sector, together with highly experienced university professors.

The University of Cantabria Master’s degree in Banking and Financial Markets will be awarded on course completion.

As an EFPA accredited program the Master prepares students for the European Financial Advisor (EFA) exam.

Registration fees for the course cost 11800 €.

The Master offers grants for 60% of the cost. Students with outstanding academic performance during the course may be considered for the Excellence Award for 40% of the course fees.
